Bill Weld

Former Governor of Massachusetts (1991–1997)

On the Issues

Health Care Reform

According to PBS, Governor Weld petitioned the federal government for additional Medicaid funding for Massachusetts. This effort was made prior to Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. He would later relax the state’s Medicaid requirements, mainly to increase health care access, but also to assist in reining in spending in a tight budget.
